Set Up a Campaign

Campaigns unlock advanced attribution, lossless tracking, and scaling clarity inside Visiopt.

0 of 5 steps complete
Step 1

Create a Funnel and Add Your Pages

Instructions

  1. Click Funnels
  2. Click Add New Funnel
  3. Name your funnel (e.g., "Main Offer Funnel")
  4. Click Add Page
  5. Enter the exact URL of your page
  6. Add your campaign page (usually landing page)
  7. Add all goal pages (thank you pages, upsell pages, etc.)

Why this matters

Funnels organize your pages and allow Visiopt to track the visitor journey. Your campaign will connect to this funnel.

Resources

Verify

✓ Funnel appears in your funnel list

✓ All pages are added (landing page + goal pages)

✓ URLs are correct and validated

Step 2

Create Webhooks Optional but Recommended

Instructions

  1. Go to SettingsPayment Processors & Carts
  2. Select your payment processor or cart
  3. Click Create Webhook
  4. Name your webhook (e.g., "Front-End Purchase")
  5. Select the funnel you just created
  6. Click Save
  7. Copy the webhook URL and add it to your cart/payment processor
  8. Webhook help page showing step-by-step instructions on adding the webhook URL to various carts and payment processors

Why this matters

Webhooks send purchase and conversion data directly to Visiopt, enabling accurate revenue tracking and attribution.

Resources

Verify

✓ Webhook is created and saved

✓ Webhook URL is added to your payment processor

✓ Test transaction triggers the webhook (if possible)

Step 3

Set Up Your Campaign

Create your campaign and connect it to your ad network.

3a. Create a New Campaign

  1. Go to Campaigns
  2. Click Manage Campaigns
  3. Click Create a New Campaign
  4. Select your previously created Funnel
  5. Name your campaign (e.g., "Facebook - Main Offer")
  6. Select your Campaign Page (usually your landing page)
  7. Click Continue

3b. Choose Campaign Type & Ad Network

  1. Leave Classic (Manual) selected (recommended)
  2. Choose your ad network from the list
  3. Click Continue
  4. Log into the selected ad network when prompted
  5. Link the correct ad account

⚠️ Important: Tracking parameters must be placed correctly at the ad or campaign level in your ad platform. Visiopt will provide the required parameters during setup.

Why this matters

The campaign page defines the entry point for attribution. Connecting your ad network enables Visiopt to pull in spend data and send conversion events back for optimization.

Resources

Verify

✓ Campaign appears in your campaign list

✓ Correct funnel is selected

✓ Ad network shows as connected

Step 4

Configure Goals

This step defines what Visiopt tracks and how revenue is calculated. Complete each section below.

4a. Choose Tracking Path ✓ Complete

Does your landing page offer multiple purchase options (e.g., 1 bottle vs 3 bottles)?

Normal Path (single purchase option):
Landing Page → Checkout → Upsell → Thank You
Customer Path (multiple purchase options):
Landing Page offers:
  • 1 Bottle → Checkout → Upsells
  • 3 Bottles → Checkout → Upsells
  • 6 Bottles → Checkout → Upsells

If you want to see reporting broken down by initial purchase option, choose Customer Path.

Not sure? Choose Normal Path — it's correct for most funnels.

4b. Add Goals ✓ Complete
  1. Enable Goals
  2. Select goal type: Goal, Webhook, Postback, or Button
  3. Select the page or webhook for this goal
  4. Name your goal clearly (e.g., "Front-End Purchase", "Upsell 1")
  5. Add additional goals as needed
4c. Revenue Settings Required ✓ Complete

Select how your revenue is sent to Visiopt:

Does ONE webhook already include the FULL order total?

If you send BOTH a total revenue webhook AND separate product webhooks, and include all of them, revenue will be over-reported.

$47 (front-end) + $97 (upsell) + $144 (total) = $288 reported

Actual revenue: $144. This causes 2x over-reporting.

Please select one option above to continue
4d. Include in AOV Required ✓ Complete

AOV measures the average value of each customer order.

Simple rule:

✓ Mark ONLY ONE goal as "Include in AOV."

This should be your primary purchase event (your main order / checkout purchase / total revenue goal).

✗ Do NOT mark upsells, downsells, order bumps, or additional product goals as AOV.

Even if a customer buys multiple items, that is still ONE order.

Please confirm the AOV rule above to continue.
4e. Exclude Undefined Conversions ✓ Complete

Undefined conversions are conversions that did NOT originate from this funnel's campaign page.

In most cases, you do not want these included in your results because they can inflate or confuse reporting.

Best practice: Enable "Exclude Undefined Conversions" for every goal.

Please confirm the setting above to continue.
4f. Send to Google Analytics Optional ✓ Complete

If you want conversion data sent to Google Analytics, enable this option and configure your GA4 property.

Why this matters

Correct goal and revenue configuration is critical. Mistakes here cause over-reporting, incorrect AOV, and bad optimization decisions.

Verify

✓ At least one goal is configured

✓ Revenue setting selected (Option 1 or 2)

✓ Only ONE goal is marked for AOV

✓ Exclude Undefined Conversions is enabled

Complete all required sections above before continuing.
Step 5

Configure Conversion API Recommended

Optional — but recommended for better ad platform optimization and signal quality.

Don't want to set up Conversion API now?

You can enable Conversion API later.

5a. Enable Conversion API

  1. Check the "Conversion API" checkbox
  2. Click "Save & Continue To API Set Up"

This opens the Conversion API setup screen.

Verify

✓ You are taken to the API setup screen

5b. Choose Attribution Type

5c. Select Ad Network

Choose the ad network you want to send conversion data to:

Why this matters

The Conversion API sends purchase data directly to your ad network, improving optimization and helping you scale profitably.
